Healeys Cornish Cyder Farm has been around since 1986 and they have established themselves as the biggest independent cyder makers in Cornwall. Kay and Dave Healey brought a 150 year old farm back to life and with the help of a 16th century press have created some incredible award winning cyder that is renowned throughout the UK. They have also opened the first distillery in Cornwall for 300 years. This is one cidery I am looking foward to visitng once this pandemic is over.
Healeys Cyder - Rattler Original (Cornish Cloudy Cyder)
ABV – 6%
Size – 500ml
Country – England
Region – Cornwall
Nose/Aroma – It is quite sweet and fruity with a healthy amount of tart apple but it isn't to overpowering.
Appearance – The cider is between gold and yellow with a nice mild cloudy haze.
Flavour – The rattler is quite fruity with a bittersweet bite and a medium dry finish. As with any decent cloudy cider it has some nice depth but a really nice balance of flavour. it has some very light short lasting carbonation but still remains fairly crisp. I feel that the sweetness definitely masks the 6% which makes this far to easy to drink.
Overall Thoughts – I absolutely loved this cider. It is incredibly smooth and the bittersweet aftertaste is perfect and something that I really enjoy in ciders. I find that each sip leaves you wanting more but at 6% you need to be careful. I genuinely can't wait to try the rest of their range to see if they can compare to the rattler original. I would highly recommend this cider to anyone because this is one of my new favourites.
